My Classes Are Not For Everyone

This post was written for the Amate Society Collective.

[Excerpt] How many times have you dropped into an “all levels” yoga class and felt left behind? Or maybe you were able to follow along, but observed that others in the class could not?

With accessibility coming into mainstream yoga conversations, I see it being thrown around a lot as a buzzword, with no substance to back it up.

Part of how we make progress with accessibility in yoga is to be honest with ourselves and with our students. I would love to be able to say my classes are for everyone – but they’re not. No matter how many options or variations or different techniques I offer, not everyone will be able to drop into my classes today and have all of their needs accommodated.
